Paul McCartney live at Scottrade Center, St Louis Sunday 11 November 2012 Live No Comments

Sir Paul McCartney’s On The Run tour returned to the US with a concert at the Scottrade Center in St Louis, Missouri.

It was his first full-length show since a free event at the Zócalo de la Ciudad de México in Mexico City six months previously.

All tickets for the Scottrade Center show sold out. It was McCartney’s first St Louis concert since the 2002 Back In The US Tour – also at the Scottrade Center, although at that time it was known as the Savvis Center. He had previously performed at the city’s Busch Stadium on two occasions, on 1993’s New World Tour and on 22 August 1966 with The Beatles.

The singer was in good spirits, telling the crowd early on: “Good evening, St. Louie. It’s good to be back. I’m getting the feeling it’s gonna be some kind of a good time tonight.”

Later in the show he asked if the audience preferred “St Louie” or “St Louis”. Fans booed St Louie. “Now I know,” said McCartney, who added extra emphasis on “Louis” for the rest of the night. However, when the show closed with red, white and blue confetti, McCartney told the crowd: “You were fantastic St Louie. Thank you.”

During The End, McCartney tripped and fell while descending the steps from his piano riser. He recovered and later joked that it was a planned move.

McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).
